The event was initially scheduled to run on Saturday, June 12 and Sunday, June 13 but has now been postponed until Saturday, July 17 and Sunday, July 18.
On Wednesday, June 2, acting premier James Merlino stated Melburnians could not travel to regional Victoria for the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend (June 12-14).
With state borders also temporarily closed, Ararat Car Club president Daryl McRae said he postponing the event would allow most of the regular participants and spectators to attend.

"The main thing is the travel restrictions," he said.
"We have probably a dozen people come from South Australia to compete. We also have people come from Melbourne and all-round Victoria."
Mr McRae said he was still optimistic the event would be a success, as there had been plenty of interest in it before the circuit breaker lockdown.
"I think we had 60 or 70 entrants before we postponed," he said.
OTHER NEWS:
"It's probably 25 up from where we'd usually be at this time. We would have had a capacity field and we probably still will if we get the opportunity to run it. We would be looking at 90 plus cars."
Mr McRae said that run restrictions would likely need to have eased back to the level they were before the circuit breaker lockdown.
"We've got a COVID-safe plan and everything in place, but with some of the restrictions, it's just a logistical nightmare. So, it would basically have to be back to what it was," he said.
