Residents met with police face-to-face to complete the survey or did so online, via the Northern Grampians Eyewatch social media page or the Engage Vic Website.

The main concerns raised from the community were:

Northern Grampians Local Area Commander Inspector Jo Janes said officers found the face-to-face interaction with residents across the area valuable.

"This wasn't just for residents to complete the survey, but to spend time engaging with local community members and receive immediate feedback," she said.

"People also told us they want to hear more about what police are doing in schools to educate local young people about safety issues and see a more visible police presence in the community by way of foot and vehicle patrols."

"This gives us a really clear framework to work with when planning our policing operations for the year ahead. We want to address these concerns and better support our local community."

Inspector Janes said the region's police were dedicated to working with residents to ensure public safety.

"We already have several operations and initiatives in the pipeline to target these areas of concern," she said.

"We will be undertaking more foot patrols around the central business districts, undertaking more residential vehicle patrols, holding "Coffee with a Cop" events, interacting with local primary and high schools and focusing on increased vehicle intercepts.

"People also told us their preferred method of information about local policing operations and crime is online and through local newspapers so we will continue to utilise these channels to provide safety information and update you about what's happening in your area."
