Crime recorded has increased by 29.2 per cent in Ararat over the last 12 months, rising from 1250 to 1615 offences.
The Crime Statistics Agency released the new data on Thursday, June 17, in which the crime statistics for the period from March 31, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
The most common types of crime are around Breaches of Family Violence orders, with 195 crimes recorded. The data also showed 527 of the offences were committed in a house.

Breaches of Family Violence orders increased from 165 last year to 195. The second most common crime of criminal damage also increased from 110 recorded crimes the previous year to 137 this year.
Crimes relating to benefits by deception had a large increase, with the previous year only recording 19 offences but the latest data revealing an increase of over 60 offences (82 offences recorded).
The statistics revealed two decreases, crimes recorded in Moyston decreased from 21 offences recorded the previous year to 19 this year. Armstrong also recorded a decrease from 26 to 16 offences recorded.
Most crimes occurred in the Ararat location (1342), the second-highest being Dobie.
Last year the Dobie location recorded just 17 offences which has dramatically increased to over 100 crimes (109).
Crimes committed in a house rose from 419 to 527 over the 12 months, and the second most common location for a crime recorded was the street, footpath or laneway, with 242 crimes recorded at these locations.
Agricultural located crimes had a huge increase according to the latest statistics, from only five offences to 64 offences recorded.
