Saunders is just happy to keep running, and constantly he has been doing since he started running with the club in his fifties.
He has now clocked up just over 450 runs with the club, and we know there are still many more to come.
The Blizzard Family 10km Handicap is the second championship race for the season, with runners starting in the sealed handicap race not knowing results until the presentations.
"It is great to see more runners joining the club and giving it a go," Saunders said.
He followed Natalie Beer on track to the finish, trying to kept her in sight, when handicaps were applied there were only 58 seconds between them.
OTHER NEWS:
Beer trains consistently and keeps surprising her running coach to smashing to personal best on the 10km course.
Track markers had a surprise on the course finding a rather large puddle that spread fully across the road leaving all runners to choose to come home wet footed or attempt to tip toe along a narrow edge.
Coming in third was Nicki Blackie who was unfazed by the large puddle on course said there was nowhere to go but straight through.
In the week of Olympic viewing the course had a Steeplechases likeness.
The course generally favours the front markers as it is flatter than most of the club tracks which the results reflected.
MORE NEWS:
Fastest on course was Mark Thompson and fastest female was Tessa Thompson.
Next Sunday the club races another Championship run, the Watkins Family 6.5km Handicap.
We meet at the Warrak reserve assembly at 9.15am with the race starting at 9.45am.
Fun runners are welcome.
