OVER six thousand people in Ararat have received at least one jab of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to new data released by the Federal Government.

The latest vaccination data released by the Health Department revealed statistics from local government areas across Australia, showcasing the breadth of the vaccine rollout.
The data tracks how many people in each LGA, over the age of 15, have received their first and second doses.
In Ararat Rural City 64.3 per cent of eligible residents, roughly 6,394 people, have received at least one dose, with 46.1 per cent (or around 4,584 people) fully vaccinated with both doses.

Looking west, the data shows Ararat's first dose vaccination rate is comparable with that of other western Victorian LGAS, such as Northern Grampians Shire (), Horsham, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera's 64.6 per cent and while Yarriambiack Shire leads the way with 67 per cent.
To the east, 61.9 per cent of Pyrenees Shire residents have received at least one dose, ahead of Ballarat's 58.9 per cent of residents.
When it comes to fully vaccinated population, Ararat is ahead with on 46.1 per cent, with Northern Grampians Shire (), Yarriambiack Shire (41.3 per cent) and Horsham Rural City (40.1%) boasting similar numbers, with Hindmarsh (32.1 per cent) and West Wimmera (30.2 per cent) lagging behind.
Ararat's rollout is also exceeding that of Pyrenees Shire and even Ballarat, who sit at 38.8 and 39.7 per cent fully vaccinated respectively.
Meanwhile, 71.6 per cent of nearby Buloke Shire's 5,123 eligible residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 48.4 per cent are fully vaccinated against the virus.

The Borough of Queenscliffe on the Bellarine Peninsula tops the state, with a whopping 86.9 per cent of its population having received at least one dose, and 64 per cent being full vaccinated against the virus.
However, Queenscliffe has one of the smallest populations in Victoria, with just 2,610 residents.
Overall, 54.3 per cent of Victorians have received their first vaccine doses, while one in three, or 33.3 per cent, are fully vaccinated.
This puts Victoria ahead of Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
However, Victoria is just trailing Tasmania, the ACT and New South Wales, with 65.4 per cent of residents in the latter having had their first dose and 35.4 per cent being full vaccinated.
