Situated on the Western Highway, 4 km east of Ararat, Green Hill Lake has plenty on offer for locals, campers and travellers alike.
The thought of COVID-19 coming to Ararat "frightens" Ararat Councillor and president of the Green Hill Lake committee Gwenda Allgood.
"You look everyday and there are caravans going through Ararat, it frightens me because we are an older community," she said.
"It's got to Ballarat and I certainly don't want anything in Ararat, that's for sure.
"I don't want anything to happen here, at the moment restrictions are in place and people need to follow them."
OTHER NEWS:
Councillor Allgood said the council controls the lake and they have put the boom gate down to prevent entry to the campgrounds.
"They put the boom gate up to show that it's closed," she said.
"Unfortunately for us people are driving around out there and it's really disappointing because the boom gate being down is a safety thing for our whole community. It's a safety issue at the moment and it is very difficult to gauge where people are coming from."
She said the committee asked the council if the campgrounds were closed and were told " it is definitely closed, no one should be there at all".
"We don't have any of these viruses in our community and we support the council in what they are trying to do," she said.

Councillor Allgood said as soon as restrictions eased, camping would be welcomed back to Green Hill Lake with open arms.
"We would love people to come back and camp there, that's what we are all about," she said.
"When the restrictions are lifted the council will lift the boom gate and we will be open for business again the sooner the better."
