The annual festival acknowledges the contribution of more than a million Victorians aged over 60 who are volunteers, carers, neighbours, friends, and grandparents in our community.
The theme for this year is 'Keep'n on', recognising the resilience of seniors after a tough year.
Ararat Rural City Council chief executive Dr Tim Harrison said the Victorian Seniors Festival provided an opportunity for the seniors across Ararat to "connect with others and have fun."
"The Seniors Festival provides an opportunity for those over 60 to try a new hobby, connect with others and have fun," he said.
"Ararat Rural City boasts an enviable lifestyle and is a great place to age well, with a supportive community and active community groups encouraging people to connect socially and volunteer."
OTHER NEWS:
The annual festival is set to be held online for the second straight year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"While COVID-19 restrictions have prevented the community from getting together in-person this year, there's a diverse range of online activities and events to get involved in, ranging from virtual fitness classes, an online film festival and concerts," he said.
