The main car park will be closed to the public from November through to December 2021.
Entrance to the main car park will only be accessible to Ambulance Services to the Urgent Care Centre and for people accessing the COVID Swab Clinic area.
The health service received $650,000 from the Victorian Government's Building Works package to install the solar system.
The $2.7 billion Building Works package is driving new economic activity and creating thousands of new jobs across the state.
This project is in addition to the 936 solar panels installed on other buildings at EGHS.
The solar car park shelters will provide weather protection, while generating green energy.
The main front entrance to the hospital will still be accessible for patients to be dropped off and picked up.
Parking for all other visitors will be located at Girdlestone Street, Basham Street, Vincent Street and Lowe Street.
