The $650,000 project is a joint investment the Australian Government's Bridges Renewal Program and Council to benefit both the local community and economy.
Ararat Rural City CEO Dr Tim Harrison said delivering a better and safer bridge in Moyston was one of many regional infrastructure projects being carried out in Council's 2021/22 Budget.
"The existing bridge over Salt Creek is near the end of its lifespan -- the route is often used by agricultural equipment and vehicles carrying a heavy load which can cause damage to the bridge over time," Dr Harrison said.
"The project will deliver a two-lane concrete bridge on Pollands Road in Moyston, replacing the single-lane bridge to improve access and to help motorist reach their destination sooner and safer.
"When complete, the new bridge will include flexible safety barriers and guard fence, providing a safer and reliable route for all road users.

Dr Harrison said council understood safer bridges and efficient freight networks were critical for the region and the wider economy
"Council is committed to keeping drivers safe and improving local roads for all," he said.
"By carrying out projects like this one, we're ensuring our hard-working farmers and truck drivers can get around safely and efficiently."
Contractor CIVIL & EARTH AUSTRALIA PTY LTD have been awarded the contract to install the new bridge system, with the new bridge expected to be ready for use in October 2021.
Due to Bridge replacements works, Smith Road and Redman Road will be closed until 30 September, weather permitting. Detours will be in place during this time.
